For a moment there, it seemed like Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Games was about to duke it out in court, but it seems the matter’s already resolved. The two companies feuded over the fact both companies use a stylized “R” as its logos.
Game File founder Stephen Totilo posted on Twitter that he received a response from a Remedy rep, who told him there is “nothing to see here” and that the two companies are working together through partnerships. Apparently, the copyright dispute was a simple formality.
This whole ordeal was spotted by RespawnFirst earlier in the week. It’s unsurprising the two have come to terms quickly, as let’s face it, neither company probably wants to slog through legal issues over the use of the letter “R” in the logo of a video game developer. Remedy previously worked with Rockstar on Max Payne 1 and 2. Luckily, with the swift response, it seems plans are still afloat with a compilation of Max Payne 1 and 2, which falls into the “production readiness” phase.
UPDATE: A Remedy rep tells me: "There is nothing to see here – this was a discussion between our teams that was resolved entirely and amicably late last year."
"The legal filing was simply an initial formality, and Remedy and Take-Two continue to work together in partnership." https://t.co/j1NgQCkE15
